Practice Different Styles of Tango

Argentine Tango

At our tango school, we teach Argentine tango as passed down by the great masters. Our approach emphasizes connection, musicality, footwork, and role technique for both leaders and followers. We explore elements from tango de pista and tango de escenario, and adapt our instruction to suit all levels.

Milonga

Milonga is a joyful and rhythmic style of tango with a faster tempo and distinct energy. In our tango classes, you’ll learn how to move with its unique cadence and express yourself through its playful style—perfect for enjoying any milonga night in Madrid.

Tango Vals (Vals Criollo)

The tango waltz, or vals criollo, invites dancers to flow with circular movement and musical grace. We guide you in interpreting this beautiful variation and incorporating it into your repertoire, helping you dance more fluently and confidently on the floor.

Your Questions About Our Tango School in Madrid

Our tango classes in Madrid are held in the heart of the city, in the vibrant neighborhood of Lavapiés. The venue is just a 5-minute walk from Lavapiés metro station (Line 3) and about 8 minutes from Embajadores train station. We’re also within walking distance of Gran Vía (15 minutes) and Atocha (20 minutes), making our tango academy easily accessible whether you’re coming from another district or another city.

We welcome dancers of all levels. Whether you’re an absolute beginner or an experienced tanguero, our tango classes are structured to help you progress steadily. Beginners receive a strong foundation, while intermediate and advanced students focus on technique, musicality, and expression.

Not at all. You’re welcome to join solo. In our tango school, we often rotate partners during class to help everyone improve their connection and adaptability, creating a friendly and inclusive learning environment.

Yes, we do offer tango classes for couples. If you’re coming with a partner and prefer to dance together throughout the class, we respect that. If you don’t have a partner, we do our best to keep a balanced ratio so everyone can participate.

We don’t offer free trial classes, as we carefully plan each session to ensure balance and continuity. However, you can attend a tango class at the single class rate to experience our teaching style and atmosphere before committing.

We recommend shoes with smooth leather soles—nothing too sticky or rubbery, as you’ll need to pivot and move freely. If you’re new, you don’t need special tango shoes right away.

Not at all. Comfort is key, especially at the beginning. High heels are optional and only recommended once you feel stable and confident in your movements.

Wear clothes that are comfortable and allow you to move easily. There’s no strict dress code—just avoid anything too tight or restrictive.

Depending on the format, classes typically last between 60 and 120 minutes. Each session includes technical work, musical exploration, and connection with your partner.

That depends on your consistency and dedication. With regular attendance and practice, many students start feeling confident on the dance floor within just a few months.

No experience is needed. Argentine tango is a social dance meant for everyone. Our tango instructors will guide you step by step, starting with the fundamentals.

We begin with the basic walk and simple steps—the foundation of all tango movement. From there, you’ll gradually build technique, confidence, and expression.

Tango teaches more than just movement. It’s about non-verbal communication, connection, rhythm, and sensitivity. It helps you develop awareness, presence, and emotional expression through dance.

Tango technique includes posture, connection with your partner, walking, and musicality. These are the core elements we work on in every tango class.

You’ll start with fundamental figures such as the walk, ocho, giro, and parada. As you advance, you’ll learn how to combine them into fluid sequences and begin to improvise with confidence.
